Society News: Board Transitions

October 24, 2025

We hope you had a joyful summer! As we prepare to enter the 2025-26 season, we’d like to announce a few transitions within the officers of the Board of Directors.

Bob Blacksberg will be concluding his 3-year term as Board President, with Vice President Lisa Miller moving up to assume that role. In her stead, board member Maren Montalbano has been appointed the new Vice President. As per our bylaws, Bob will remain involved in MFS leadership as a regular board member, and will succeed Linda Reichert as President of The Musical Fund Society Foundation (the fundraising wing of our organization). Following the completion of her much-appreciated service as President of the Foundation, Linda will continue to attend MFS board meetings as a Past President.

On behalf of the MFS Board of Directors, we’d like to warmly thank Bob Blacksberg for his leadership as President of the Society. We are particularly grateful for Bob’s technical expertise, his care and diligence, and his steady implementation of the strategic plan originally spearheaded by Linda. Throughout his tenure, Bob has worked to build a strong base for MFS as it continues to serve its members and the wider cultural community. His enthusiasm for creating connections in new places has been inspiring!

Now in its 205th year, the Society’s mission – to enrich the diverse cultural life and deep musical legacy of Philadelphia through grants, awards, and services to members – remains vitally important. We’re excited to be working with MFS’s amazing Board, staff, members and supporters in furthering our vision of an ever more inclusive and vibrant musical city.

In a world that feels increasingly fractured, music of all kinds creates connection and community. We hope that MFS’ programs, events, and resources continue to make both possible for Philadelphia’s music makers and music lovers alike.
